  • Consider setting a lower introductory price

  • Add more availability to your calendar

  • Set your booking cutoff time as close to your start time as possible

Once your listing is published, you may want to take some additional steps to entice guests to book your Experience. Based on ideas from successful Hosts, here are three suggestions for changing your settings that can help you attract bookings.

1. Start with an introductory price

The price of your Experience is always up to you, and you may already have a pricing strategy in mind based on your time, effort, and expenses.

Offering your Experience at a lower introductory price can be a great way to attract bookings and gather feedback from guests, especially when you’re just starting out. Once you’ve gotten a few reviews, you may want to adjust the price of your listing or experiment with different discounts or promotions to increase your earnings.

2. Adjust your calendar settings

In most regions worldwide, over 55% of bookings occur in the week before an Experience.* To maximize your opportunities, make sure your calendar availability reflects all the dates you’re available in the week ahead.

You could also consider opening your calendar a few months out to create availability for guests who like to plan ahead. You can adjust your calendar settings to accept bookings up to 18 months in advance.

Globally, the most popular days for Experiences are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.** Popular days can vary depending on your location and Experience, so it’s a good idea to try other days and times to figure out what works best for you.

You may want to prepare for larger crowds around any major events in your area—like Carnival in Rio de Janeiro or Mardi Gras in New Orleans—by adding extra availability around those times to accommodate more guests.

3. Allow last-minute bookings

While some travelers plan every detail of their trips in advance, others prefer to be more spontaneous. Almost a third of Experiences are booked two days in advance or fewer.*

Setting your booking cutoff time close to your start time keeps your Experience searchable for a longer period and available to more guests. You can set your cutoff time for as little as one hour and up to several days of your start time, whatever works best for you.

For example, let’s say you set your cutoff time for 10 a.m., or six hours prior to your 4 p.m. start time. Guests searching for an Experience like yours can find and book until 10 a.m. If no one books by that cutoff time, your Experience will be canceled without penalty to you.
